Gearing Question

I was practicing at my local track last weekend, and running with a guy with a Sportwerks Mayhem, with the stock sportwerks motor. He was every bit as fast as me on the straightaway, and I am running an O.S. V-spec. (almost brand new). My engine was tuned really well, so i talked to the guy at my LHS and he told me the gearing was low in my XB8. I was running a 13t clutchbell, and 48t spur. I bought the 14t, and just ordered a 15t and 44t spur off amain. Will this help with more top end? What gearing set-ups are you running. The course is a little technical, and I think a little less bottom end will actually help out to stop so much tire spin.

Since you said your Vspec is almost brand new, then it isn't broken in yet. After you get about 2 gallons and the tight pinch is gone it will really open up on the straights. And don't be afraid to lean the top end to get the RPMs up.
