Just finished building my ec big bores. They dont seem to rebound very quickly compared to my old tq shocks. My pistons are not over tightend either. Im even running xray 350 oil, where as in my tq shocks I WAS running 50 front and 35 rear losi oil. no suspension binding either. I also have read that alot of people are running jammin red springs? im running the same dark blue springs on the ec shocks as I was running on my tq shocks? If it matters im using the 1.5 pistons with no dot.

well, you can add me to the busted washer/piston club. I ran the other day for about 3 hours at the local track and noticed a rear shock was all out of whack...tore it down and the bottom washer was busted in 1/2 and the piston's center hole was mangled...I rebuilt him (using clutch shim washers) and reduced droop (I go by eye to eye shock length) by 1.5 mm. I was SURE the arms were hitting the droop screws at rest (shock not stopping the travel). I ran again on Monday and after about 2 hours, the same thing happened to the other rear shock. I rebuilt it again and reduced droop by another 1.5mm...Now, I have only ran it about an hour after that, but they appear to be fine. I do think there should be bigger washers on the bottom side as well, but hopefully the reduced droop will fix it. it is odd that some of the team drivers do not limit the droop and they have no issues (I also made sure the piston was able to rotate and turn by hand, so the lock nut was not tightened too much).

Also, what washers are you all using inside the shock body to limit the droop?

Not trying to be a punk, but ,why are you guys limiting droop? We are racing off-road, not on-road here. In my experience, you want full travel to absorb everything the track has to offer. Have you guys thought of running a "o" ring under the washer to help absorb the impact if you want to limit droop internally. That will help take out a hard "slap" the washers are going through. Also, make sure your pistons are not too tight.

vdubb - yep, this is off road alright, but adjusting droop is a very good way to fine tune a car..I did it all the time with my 8ight (usually 1-2mm was enough one way or the other).

Carbon Joe - you hit the nail on the head. The only explanation can be shock length. I second your request..hopefully, we will get some insight to this..
