The reason why digital servos aren't good for throttle is because when you hold the brake you are putting the motor inside the servo through a lot of abuse. Digitals, unlike regular servos, are just as strong far away from the center point as they are at neutral so it basically overheats and blows the potentiometer from all the torque applied. You can run a digital in a buggy but it takes very conservative EPA settings. After burning up 4 digitals in throttle on my buggy I now only run them on steering with no problems.

you i have no more than needed and i use a chunk of fuel tubing so it a soft engaugement.

I have a pair of 9451's that ran all last year in another buggy. Bought the xray and put them in still no problems. I had KO in the xray but both failed within a month. I think a lot of the problems come from overtightning the servo saver. Although I had one that went bad after I left the car turned on coming home from the races and the battery went low. The servo was spastic after that. Sent it back in and got it repaired it is still working perfectly now. The little plastic gear is for the position sensor so it doesn't take much load. I've run digitals since day one in my buggy and never had a problem. However I also run 1/10 scale nitro dragsters and none of the digital servos I have found will last any time at all in that car. It has no suspension to speak of and it will ruin any digital you put into it. So I think that the digitals are more likely to break when exposed to a lot of vibration. You can imagine a 3.5lb car accelerating to 85 mph or so in 132 feet would create a lot of vibration:) The track I run at seems to like to feast on airtronics servos. A lot of the drivers have had them go bad and switched to futaba or jr. I put one of the eagle tree data collection systems in my buggy just to see what the g-forces are like. Believe me casing a jump produces a lot of g-force. I've seen readings in the 5g range when crashing a buggy.
