XRAY - Model racing cars

Been trialing this idea now for 6 months and has worked realy well, because ive had no luck sealing my shocks with the orange orings i decided to see if i could seal my front and rear arms to stop them from binding up with dirt all the time, i removed one of the 2mm spacers that sit each side of the arm and then put an oring either side of the arm and then placed the other 2mm spacer to the rear of the arm, this does sit the arm forward abit but you can compensate for that out on the hub, put it back together and you will see the orings pull in on the arms and close the gap nicely, there will obviously be some movment in the arm but this dose not seem to efect the cars handleing, since i have done this ive never had probs with arm bind, stays smooooth all the time, this idea may not siut everyone but some may like it.

My sugestion to Xray is to recess each end of the arm half the thickness of the oring so the oring sits snug in the arm and then you can go back to using both of the 2mm spacers, again just a sugestion!!!!, what do you think!

Nice Idea. My arms almost never bind though because I grease up the pins.
You should be able to make a recess of your own quite easily I think.

Liqui Moly black grease. I guess it depends greatly what dirt you run on. I can imagine the fine stuff getting into everything luckily we don't really have that here.
I think a 6 or 7mm drill bit should do for making the recess and shouldn't weaken the arm significantly. They never break anyway.

I could imagine that if you use these O-rings so tight that there is no play to keep it sealed properly, you also would end up with suspension arms that don't move 100% freely. I think super fine dust always finds its way.

The XB9 kit is awesome. I'll start building it this weekend or the next. I bet you'll be amazed, too.

i did something similar,but i cut 2 rubber washers out of a bike inner tube and used a Tyre punch to punch a hole for the hingepin to go thru,a dab of Vaseline on the washers and it seals the dirt and water/mud out nicely.
what i also do is force a 4mm sharp edged allen key thru the wishbone WITHOUT twisting it..this cuts 6 points into the wishbone hole while retaining a snug fit..somewhere for the dirt to sit if it enters the wishbone.

alternatively i was looking at making a rubber boot to cover the wishbone and the hangers,i tried some bike inner tube but its a tad too thick at 1.1mm,maybe some .50mm would be ideal.
with the 1.1mm stuff the wishbone has a very very light spring feel to it so thinner would be good..maybe a condom or latex tubing?
