Post subject: | Foam insert in shock dampeners... |
Hi, I always wanted to know what the purpose of this little foam insert on top of the rubber bladder in the dampeners actually is?? Especially because there is the setup possibility to have it in or not. Couldn't find anything concerning this in the setup book. Thanks in advance. Regards, Patrick |

The foam increases the rate at which the shock rebounds. Generally on the track it increases grip but decreases the reaction of the car. For me the foam always feels better to drive due to the increase in traction but is always slower on laptime. |

I have seen some drivers drilling small holes on the plastic part of the shock cap, is this to get rid of rebound completely? If not, what is the best way to get no rebound without getting air in the shocks? I'm thinking of this more for carpet than anything else as the grip is so high. Thanks Skiddins |

Maybe it would be an idea to make some video's for Youtube, like RedRC did with Jilles Groskamp showing how to do Xray shocks correctly and balance them. I have real trouble getting rebound the same. Skiddins |

0% rebound, interesting. I run the alu shocks with the foam inserts. Our home asphalt track in relative terms is bumpy; I run rebound at 100% The alu shocks leak and during the course of a meeting by the time the rebound is down to 25% the car is visibly bouncing on the faster corners. These days I travel with a spare set of shocks setup for rebound and ride height and for "big" meetings I simply swap them in for the finals or maybe last qualie if it 4+2 format. I cannot imagine running at 0% deliberately ![]() |
