What's a good basic low traction set-up? https://setup.teamxray.com/xsetup/legacy/viewtopic.php?f=8&t=9430 |

Relatively new to all this, but struggle with the same stuff week in and week out. Race on a polished wooden floor, using Schumacher yellow spot mini pins (narrow), and never seem to be able to generate the same amount of side bite, or turn in that the other top drivers enjoy. My car is very 'drifty', and struggles to turn in. I usually drive around it and by the end of the night get on the same lap as the top guns. Very frustrating though. Any ideas? I'm running kit standard springs and oil. Full rebound, all holes open on pistons. Ride height 5.5mm front 6mm rear. 1 degree toe out (front), 3 degrees toe-in (rear). Base set-up shock positions and shims, 2 degrees camber on front, 1.5 on rear. No roll bars. Base-setup roll centres, kick-up/anti squat etc. Cheers Ju |

I have never run on a a polished floor, but it sounds similar to running in the wet at my local club. Could try some of the following (one at a time possibly, and in no particular order) 1) Lean front shocks in, stand rear shocks up. 2) Add a rear roll bar, will help turn in but might cause the car to slide more easily. 3) Less rear toe, this will add turn in but you may have to make other adjustments to add stability coming out of the corner) 4) More rear droop (my wet car has all the droop screws wound fully out!) 5) Narrow the front track, use 1.15 shims instead of 1.5 on the front pivot blocks. 6) Set chassis to max flex setting 7) Less caster, my wet car has 2deg and I may still swap the 'C' hubs around and add Kick-Up so I have 0deg caster! ![]() 9) Make sure you don't use drag brake etc. 10) More ackerman (lengthening the 'toothed' bit in front of the steering post. 11) Use Asphalt top deck That's all I can think of for the minute. My most recent wet setup; |
