There's lots of ways to decrease it.... 1. Stop hitting the barriers (earlier explained). Hitting them certainly doesn't make you faster. 2. Spend $24.00/pair for TRC tires with rings. (You can get Jaco's for 16/pair) 3. I cut vinyl rings for foam tires and have been using them on my own tires for months now, without any chunking of a tire. The rings get destroyed, but big deal...they are extremely cheap. However, the rings only decrease chunking caused by side impacts, running over something like a knife blade (laugh, hehehe), will still destroy the tire. If you'd like some options for the rings I cut, I can email them to you, as I am not trying to solicit business. Hope this helps, SuperXRAY superxray@mchsi.com |

The rings sound a great idea, what exact material and thickness are they made from? |

I make them from commercial vinyl, cut on a CNC cutter. The nice thing being that I can cut them for any size tire, and supply 3 sizes of 4/ea. That way, as the tire wears, you can replace the ring, as you need the ring to be smaller than the O.D. of the tire, but not much. It's also a lot easier than gluing or a few other supposed tricks. |
