Post subject: | Spring steel differential |
I had a small incident at the 2nd final in the DHI race last weekend and broke the standard lightened diff outdrive on my FK. I didn’t hit anything hard during that final so I guess it must have cracked in an earlier crash but I discovered it after the 2nd final. It had not fallen apart but I had to snap it to get the bearing off. Says something about how though this material is… Fortunately one of the Danish Xray drivers had spares that I could buy. I think he was an Xray dealer by the way. If you’re on here: THANK YOU! I have looked through the option parts list and found the spring steel differential (305001). Will this fit the FK? Is it recommended? Or should I just stick with the standard lightened outdrives and file this under “freak accidents”? I’ve never heard of anyone else who has broken this part… Here's a picture of it: |

The spring steel differential should fit the FK as all diffs are interchangeable between all T1 models. But I agree that what you had must´ve been one of those freak accidents as I have never seen anyone have the same problem you had. |

I think the spring still differential is harder but more heavy than the original FK differential. |

Yes i agree the spring steel is much stronger than the duralumium, but it slightly heaver i had switched to all spring steel out drives and wheel adapters and havent noticed a lack in performance, and a slight increase actualy due to the wheel adapters not mushroming over the bearing. |

Yes, spring steel ones are stronger but heavier. I use the spring steel wheel adapters at the front, but other than that I prefer to run the lightweight FK duraluminium diffs and wheel adapters. |
