Ultimate Matched Racing Springs - Black

New for the shorter-length shocks of the XRAY T2 family of 1/10th scale electric touring sedans, XRAY presents the ultimate high-performance racing springs that have been specially developed for rubber-tire racing, giving better balance and an additional range of choices to fine-tune your car.

Developed through extensive testing and racing experience, these linear springs are shorter and have a larger internal diameter. The same thickness of wire is used for each spring, and stiffness is controlled by the number of coils. Softer springs have a lower „C“ value and more coils; stiffer springs have a higher „C“ value and fewer coils. The new springs are stylishly blackcoated and the tops of each spring are laser engraved with the spring size for quick & easy identification.

Available as a pair of springs - to fit front and rear - the springs are individually measured, controlled, inspected and matched to provide identical damping characteristics. During the selection process, each spring is compressed in several fine increments and the values recorded, and then each spring is matched with another spring of identical characteristics. XRAY goes the extra mile to ensure perfect spring matches, giving your car the predictability and consistency that you need to help you lead the pack.

The new springs may also be used on earlier models of XRAY 1/10th scale electric touring sedans.

The unique characteristics of these new springs makes it difficult to make direct comparisons with existing „color-coded“ XRAY springs. The table below approximates where the new black springs would possibly fall within the range of current springs (based on stiffness); however, the new springs will give the car slightly different handling characteristics.

Tech Tip for Pinion Gear Installation for 6-cell Chassis

Please note that the T2‘008 6-cell EU Rubber-spec Edition and T2‘008 6-cell US Foam-spec Edition chassis is very narrow and as such the batteries and motor are placed as close to the car centerline as possible. Because of this, some wider pinion gears may contact therearmost cell of a 6-cell battery pack.

For stock racing, XRAY recommends using their new offset spur gears along with narrow pinion gears; the narrow pinion gear should be 3.0~4.0mm wide. XRAY offers a range of narrow 3.5mm wide pinion gears. See the tables for gearing selections.

Using a narrow pinion gear will help to prevent the pinion gear from contacting the battery.

Standard 5mm wide pinion gear and standard XRAY spur gear. The pinion gear is very close to the battery bar. Note that the battery bar is flat.

New XRAY 3.5mm narrow pinion gear with standard XRAY spur gear. There is greater distance between the pinion gear and battery bar. Note that the battery bar is flat.

New XRAY 3.5mm narrow pinion gear with new XRAY offset spur gear. The new spur gear is more offset so it is farther away from the battery bar. Note that the battery bar is flat.

A domed battery bar may contact the pinion gear. We therefore recommend using a flat battery bar, or flatten the domed battery bar.

The flat battery bar gives more space between the pinion gear and the battery pack. Using a narrow pinion gear will help to prevent the pinion gear from contacting the battery.

T2'008 Gear Ratio Table

Please note that the printed gear ratio table in the first batch of T2'008 kit was erroneously replaced by the table from the NT1. Please download the correct gear ratio table for the T2'008 here:

Pulley Upgrade Set for T2'008 EU Kits

XRAY is offering a free upgrade set of 34/20T pulleys for owners of T2'008 EU kits (both 5- and 6-cell versions). The replacement pulley set allows you to achieve a very low ratio for new stock brushless racing, and also resolves any belt wear issues. Newer batches of the T2'008 EU kit will include both 38/16T and 34/20T pulley sets.

The set of pulleys includes:
- rear ball diff 34T pulley (1pcs)
- front composite solid axle 34T pulley (1pcs)
- central 20T pulleys (2ps)

It is very easy to exchange the pulleys on the current car using the other kit parts; extra parts are not required. The kit belts may be used. Using this set of pulleys will change the internal ratio to 1.7 (as in all previous versions of T2 cars).

Important notes to follow with T2'008 EU kits using standard 38/16T pulleys (2.375 internal ratio):

• proper belt tension is required
• more frequent servicing and inspection of the belts is required when using the 38/16T pulleys
• small (M3x2.5) setscrew from the Last Aid Bag must be used to ensure that it does not protrude from the pinion gear
and/or touch the belt

To obtain your free replacement pulley set, please contact your local hobby shop or distributor. You will need to provide the certificate number that came with the T2'008 EU kit, as well as the purchase receipt.

Tech Tip: T2'008 Belt Tension Adjustment

The integrated belt tension adjustment allows you easily adjust the tension of the belt depending on the wear rate of the belt. The integrated belt tension adjustment features multiple positions which are good enough for regular racing conditions. When the belt will be worn a lot you can still use the end position which is available in the area where the upper bulkhead mounts to the lower bulkhead.

The basic position for belt tension is the middle position.

After some racing time, the belt can bacame more free; therefore, the nylon hubs shold be moved into this position.

When the belt became old and position from the picture 2 does not make the belt tensioned enough, it is recommended to use one extra bulkhead position as shown on the picture 3.

NOTICE:
Use the same procedure for the front and rear belt. For some extreme racing conditions optional externall belt tensioner set is available
