Hi there

I have an idea for an Fk Improvement. I think the big ball bearings in the steering block should be improved. I ran about 10 batteries and had about two bigger hits. I then recognised that 3 of 4 bearings have to be replaced already. I asked other FK drivers, all have the same problems.

Are there any better bearings?

Can anyone help?

Shocks, plastic bodied thingyies
It seems you have created a rolls royce then ran out of money & time & thought `i know we just chuck plastic shocks on ,does`nt matter if they leak a little it will give the racers some thing to do between rounds cos they hardley ever break :wink:

I like the click the hole round thingy but the quality of the shocks does`nt reflect the car by a long shot

:?: i can`t think of any thing else, can`t agree with the other drivers about the diff access, they are good,last long time between races.

I think going back to the worlds thingy, i put it down to the x-ray boy`s trying to get the one way working for them, should of gone to spool,but hay hindsight is a wonderfull thing (not), 8 out 10 cars were on spool, have a look at the feb issue of racer. but we are only talking milliseconds here of just missing out on the A ;;Q)how many x-rays in the B A)loads :shock:

Actually the whole XRay team did run spools. That was the key problem as we never got to the point where we had a truly good setup for the spool. We did have a killer setup for the one-way though. But the changes made to the track after the warm-up event meant we couldn´t use it. The track demanded a spool to be able to use the brakes...

You need to speak to RACE CAR mag. they are under the impression that you(x-ray) lost a lot alot of time trying to perfect a setup for a one-way axel(page 52 x-ray coloum) i like chinese whispers game, you have to work what was really said in the first place after a whole load of people have added to it :?

Any way it does`nt really matter to me ,i still love my x-ray FT, just get some shocks that are close to the tamiya or yoke ones(spec), & just as straight forward to rebuild time after time 8)

I haven´t read the magazine, but depending on how they wrote the article you could argue that they are correct.

During the Worlds warm-up event a lot of time was spent on one-way setups, although the American part of the team ran spools even then. The reason one-way's received the most focus was that the track was a nice flowing track favouring the one-way. The American drivers ran spools for the simple reason that they were preparing for a major event in the US right after the warm-up where one-ways would not be allowed.

In the months leading up to the Worlds it was our understanding that the track would be changed in such a way that the basic feel of the track would match that of the warm-up. Unfortunately due to the three huricanes that hit the track the final layout wasn't known until we got there. Three months of preparing for a track that would favour one-ways was suddenly useless as it was clear we needed a spool. To make sure one driver in the team (Joel Myrberg) tested with a one-way and confirmed the initial assessment. With a one-way it would be very difficult to be fast on the new layout...

So while we prepared for the wrong type of track in the months leading up to the Worlds, we did not waste any time on one-ways at the Worlds itself. Unfortunately we were behind the game a bit in terms of setups as many of our competitors had a relatively good starting setup for running with a spool. We struggled as a result. At this level it is not so easy to come from behind even if it is less than 0.1s a lap. Nevertheless we managed to get 6 cars into the B-final (more cars in the top 20 than any other manufacturer) of which at least 3 were still battling for an A-final position in the last round of qualifying.
