| Post subject: | LiPo fitting on 008 |
Just want to clarify something on 008 about LiPo battery's installation, hope someone can help. On page 29 in the 008 Instruction Manual, there's a clause saying that "Do not use these battery holders when using 6-cell chassis". Then if those 2 battery holders are not installed, how can I fix a LiPo battery into 008?  I suppose all 4 corners position should be fixed firmly if running LiPo cell.

I fitted an Orion 3200 Lipo on my 008, but to make sure it did not slide about I fitted a stick battery bar off another make of car,used existing holes in the chassis and with the battery strap the Lipo fits perfect. On my 05 I used the 4 corner battery holder just filed the radius off but on the 008 it is mot possible to fit these. I was lucky to have on of these but cant under stand why manufactuers of kits dont supply things like this when they are designed to be used with differant type of cells ? |

Fits OK on mine Binary. I did though remove the shrink wrap in order to fit the Trakpower to the 006 |

You can't use the battery holders with the 3600 lipo. You can tape it to the top deck if you want extra security |

I finally got the 008 onto the track yesterday after weeks of rain; damp track with one area of standing water. I can now confirm that the optional battery bar on its own is not holding the 4900 pack secure (like it did on the 006). Although I am going to change the shims I used on the battery posts to see if that will tighten it, it looks like a 90 degree tape will be needed to. BTW the day before I got the upgrade pack and fitted the new layshaft holders - had no problems with the belt fouling anything

I easily installed a Trakpower lipo by doing the following: - remove the wrap shrink from battery - use 2 side battery stop, cutting their plastic pin (located under the battery stop) and doing a hole in them for screwing wider (with a drop of loctite to secure them strongly) - using a little "L" shape aluminium bar screwed inside the chassis for center securing of battery - 0.5 mm shim under the upper deck battery side the battery fits easily and perfectly secured, with more than enough space from upperdeck allowing for chassis flex...
