I also run 5cell, 4.5t (carpet, foam tires, front diff), and I don't wear out the clips. I'm not sure why that is. I also didn't wear them out when I was running 19t and 27t with a front spool on asphalt.

With 27 turn and 19 turn i had no problems. I am running a spool in the front, which i understand will reduce life.

Actually i usually exchange clips every race. They may last a bit more, but i have found that running a worn clip will damage the outdrive.

I run rubber with spool and 4.5-3.5 motor (5 cells).
