Post subject: | How not to repair a steering block stripped screw thread |
Following my question last weekend on a temporary fix, a word of warning to those of you out there as dumb as me. On race morning I decided to try and improve matters by applying some liberal amounts of threadlock to try and tighten up the screw. Whether because of this or not we survived the race meeting. So with my new steering block arriving yesterday I sat down last night to fit the beauty. After an hour of trying to get the screw out of the top of the steering block it suddenly dawned on me that of course inside the screw hole in the C hub there is a metal bushing pushed in from underneath the top of the C hub. And yes the screw had stuck to the bushing with the help of the threadlock. So whilst it was happen to turn CCW all night it was not going to go anywhere! Another hour or so later and 2 broken hack saw blades saw me able to dis-assemble the hub etc. Lesson learned! |
