Hi, I have a question about the bearing oiling. Can I use a Starret M1 or WD40 to oil the bearing? thanks |

this is what the info i got from my LHS for using WD40 to clean the bearings. pry the rubber seal. spray the WD40 into the bearing. ensure the bearings are dry properly else WD40 residue will damage the dearing. then oil the bearing with bearing oil. i have yet to try this as i just got a 2nd hand T2R. if the above steps are not adviseable, pls advise the correct method. Thanks! |

As my LHS is very small and does not have specific bearing oil, I asked a local bearing centre for industrial machinery and he said that the oils that he has for the machinery are not suitable for small rc type bearings, but I should use sewing machine oil. I asked about wd40, and he said that the problem with wd40 is thay they dry up, where the sewing machine oil won't. I took his advice and used sewing machine oil from the habberdashery shop for my T2 007 and they work fantasticly. |
