The 13.5 Novak brushless motor is getting really popular around here and all over in the US. This motor needs a crazy gearing around 4.8-5.0 FDR with Rubber Tires or around 40mm rollout (reference for the Foam guys). Using the Xray 84 tooth 48dp spur the biggest pinion which fits is 29. That gives a 4.92 FDR on rubber tires (and the desired 40mm rollout if you use 63mm dia tires) but leaves no options to go higher on a real big track. On foam however with the ideal 56-57mm the rollout ends up being around 36mm which is low for that motor. An 80 tooth spur would solve the problems. Is there a plan to make one? Or is there anybody who makes one which fit? Orion and LRP is comming out with their own 13.5 turn brushless and I bet we will have the same problem with those. The "slow" brushless motor is very appealing to the masses who can't control a 3.5 turn so I think it's popularity will grow even more in the future... |

I use the new(er) RW Racing spur gears which fit the layshaft adaptor and let you access the motor mount screws. |

I use Robitronic (Delrin) spurs. Perfect fit, little smaller, and easy acces for the mtor mount screws. I use a 75T spur for driving with a 5cell t2'007 and a Team Orion Element 19T V2 motor (pinion 34t) |

Unfortunately Robitronic is not available in the US... ![]() I would still prefer original Xray stuff. It seems it is not just the 13.5 brushless but the 5 cell 19T needs those extreme ratios as well... One more reason to make 'em... ![]() |

www.PrecisionRacingSystems.com You can get them at www.NexusRacing.net too. Great gears with the holes for accessing the motor mount screws. |

Thanks, I've found RW spurs on http://www.ampdraw.com/ , they will arrive today so I will post how they work out. On the weekend I've got a 96tooth Kimbrough 64dp gear from a fellow racer and purchased a 64dp 36 tooth pinion for it just for the race... Unfortunately the kimbrough spur is old style it has no holes to access the motor mounting screws on the 007 - I had extremely hard time adjusting gear mesh - I don't recommend those for the 007. I hope the RWs will work out... if not I will go with the PR (Nexus does not carry the 48dp but PR has an online shop...) Robitronic has a US site but they don't have an online shop (I'm just too lazy to call them and make a special order). |
