First of all, remember that when the track layout is changed grip will be funny for at least the first 30-50 packs that are run on it. The reason is that you are running on parts of the carpet that in the old layout weren't really used, or at least as hard. So you are going from parts of the track to parts without and back again. The best thing is to wait until about 30 to 50 runs were made on the new layout and the grip has come up before making changes to your setup.

Assuming the grip had come up I suggest you first try with more rear downstop, e.g. change from 3mm under the rear arm to 5mm under the rear arm. If that doesn't help sufficiently you can try running the rear shock in hole 4 instead of 3.

I was thinking the same thing about the grip. Thanks!

I was thinking about changing to a one-way since I don't use the brakes anyway. When any of you switch from a diff, is there a standard set of setup changes that you perform to compensate for the change before you test and tweak at the track?

What should I expect to change in the handling characteristics if all I change is the diff?

What should I look to change concering my driving style when using a one-way?

Thanks.

Personaly I like the oneway i dont use brakes.stock class with rubber tires on carpet. the front end will steer like its on rails i had to use a sway bar to transfer grip back to the rear. You turn in fast so your timing will have to change. If your racing stock you can turn up the trim on the throttle till the car starts to move on its own and this will make it roll through corners smoother. I keep turning it up more and the car now drives it self around alot of the corners on its own just hold brake at begaining of race. Also moved top of front shock all the way up and sway bar back on.

Im using the blade sway bar and I have it at it firmist setting but that may or may not work for you. The blade setup wont work on the FK car or so Ive heard.
I think the Xray top guys where using a .07 bar on the front. Going up on your spring rate and oil would also help. I use violet and 40wt. blue and 30wt in back The shock tower hole I use is the #4,and out side hole on arm. This is with the oneway and 22 shore rubber all the way around. Tony may have more to say about this but I find the sway bar transfers leverage and therfore traction to the back tires which, for me is the struggle with Xray cars. It seems stifffening the front with the shocks may not transfer that much to rear of car? The sway bar uses the inside tire on turn as leverage to force the chassie back down where the shock would just take flex out of the front in this case.
how about it Tony?

The difference between using the front anti-roll bar and harder front springs is basically twofold. (1) the roll bar allows you to run relatively softer springs and damping which can help the car negotiate a bumpy track. (2) the roll bar reduces roll by lifting the inside wheel and thus reduces especially the grip on the inside wheel. Harder springs work by pushing harder on the outside wheel preventing the outside suspension from compressing too far. Moreover the harder springs will also push the outside suspension down (not up like with the roll bar). As a result the outside wheel looses some traction (and could overheat), but the inside wheel will contribute more to overall traction.

Which is the better choice depends on several factors. Since guyrhood is running foam tyres overheating will be less of an issue so harder springs can be used. Having said that, American team drivers with a lot of experience running foam tyres usually run both hard springs and front- and rear anti-roll bars with foam tyres...
