could someone please clarify for me on how to wire up a power capacitor to my speed controller is it +battery to +capicitor and -motor to -capacitor.

The condensator should be connected over the batteries. The condensator stores capacity from the Batteries and will give some extra current (punch) if needed.

only to add that you must solder it as close to the speedo as possible. (if it has external soldering tabs that's the place)
