is it a big job to pull out the diffs??
a clean diff is a happy diff....

my 414 wicked sucked .
evo 3 was fast as it had to be you needed a new one after every race!!

It is not the smallest job ;o)

Basically you can get away with (on the front) removing the steering arms from the steering block, removing the camber link from the C hub, undoing the shock from the wish bone, removing the upper deck, removing the shock tower, removing the composite bumper holder then you can remove one (not servo side) of the bulkheads. It should then be possible to wiggle the diff out.

that sucks!!
my evo 3 was 3 screws and it was out.
oh well
the car will be here by the weekend so no big deal.
i am sure that i will be ok with having to take a little xtra time to remove the diff .
seems as that is one downside to a belt drive.
for you out there wondering why i ask about hard is it to take out the diff is that kinwald uses a new one every main
he is fast so i listen.
you get to a point in racing where you just dont get any faster...
thats when you ask who are faster .
i need sleep

You can get it out by taking the bottom 3 screw out the bulkhead underneath the car and the top deck screw off the side your taking out and undo the shock tower on the same side. Then just pop off the camber link and shock bottom and away you go.....

to me it sounds useless to use a new diff every main. I think even the drivers who are at the worlds right now don't do that.

anyway, yeah it takes some time but I let my diff in for a whole season and didn't have problems.

I think the problem is that you are confusing the Xray diffs with some other inferior diffs.

If the diffs are built right in the first place then you dont have to remove them and clean them untill after many races.

I have had my T1 for a few years now and I only cleaned them once a month at most. For club racing they dont need cleaning every meeting, they are sealed with "labirinth" type seals.

I would doubt very much that the "works" drivers will be removing and rebuilding the diffs after every run at the worlds, if the tightness on the diff is different in any way that could effect the handling of the car.

The Xray diffs are by far the best diffs I have every had, I have been racing for over twenty years so you can trust me on that one.

this was never intended to question the way a pro has become a pro.
i see the fast guys changing motors every run.
i have raced a car for 20 races and never changed a thing and somtimes i will try a dozen motors and 20 gear changes in a practice day.
all i really wanted to know is if diff changing was hard.

You can whip out the diff and change it for a one way in about 4mins if there are two of you, 10min if you are on your own...
