Post subject: | Bearings don't spin and other general questions |
Hiya, I just noticed that some of my bearings don't spin freely. I have 1 bearing which has a severe problem with this: it does not spin at all (but moves freely when pushed). Other bearings spin 5-10 seconds, so I think that they are OK. What should I do with this faulty bearing? Overnight, I put it into some WD40, and I'm going to have a look at the results in a moment. I also noticed that when I stick a needle into the bearing (with seals removed) and spin the bearing, it makes a griding noise... Any other tips? (I read the tips in the FAQ) Also, are the aluminium rear hubs lighter than their composite counterparts? Or are they just stronger? Are the bearing sizes the same? Also, what bearings would you reccomend? How about ceramics? I was thinking about getting some from SKF, but I do not know what type I need... Or how about Boca bearings? I was thinking of this: http://www.bocabearings.com/main1.aspx? ... 6700-UU_#7 TIA |

Checked-up on the bearing in the WD40, all seems good now All other questions remain |
Ceramic .... I think it'll bring you a little less weight and a little more roll. But at the cost of a very high price and short MTBF (Mean time Before Failure). One crash and you have a big change you loose at least one.....
You think? Or you know? Do you have any experience with ceramics? Let people choose what's best for them and let them find out themselves if ceramics have any value. Oh and Joep, MTBF is Mean Time BETWEEN Failure(s). |
