XRAY - Model racing cars

The clicking is comming from the solid layshaft and the 20T fixed pulleys.
The pulleys move back and forth on the layshaft just because of normal play.

That same "click" drove me nuts,spent some time and finally found the problem.
You can leave it....won't hurt anything.

I noticed the same clicking on my T2, and it's coming from the pins that hold the pulleys in place moving slightly in the layshaft rather than the pulleys themselves moving - you can hear it every half rotation of the spur.

small dab of silicoln seale will hold the pin in place
