Hey All,

Looking to get a beginning setup for the ROAR Nats for the T2.

Here is the spec's:

Imagine the Snowbirds Track size, maybe one roll deeper.
Same Carpet, but there carpet is not glued down, its stretched and the seams are tapped. This creates waves as you go into turns.

I will be lucky enough to run a few times there before the race but would i like a starting point.

Looking for info like, use this setup but glue the tires, or use this set up but decrease the droop a ton, and any other tips. Traction should be insane like it normally is at Stockton, but even more because of all the traffic.

Thanks,

Nick Martinez

Hey Mario,

Yes, it is a foamer, wish it were rubber. I would post the question on the RcTech boards but the past few months they have turned in to threads that rip you for asking questions.

But my nervousness is with the waves that will come up over the weekend. I have been studying the Setup booklet, and setups to see where ppl have been going.

I have Mike D's setup on it now, but think I will need to raise RC and/or glue the side walls at the Stockton track, vs Snowbirds. To keep the car from traction rolling, cause as the carpet waves in the turns it comes up and gets stuck in the sidewall of the wheel and traction rolls it.

To help prevent that type of traction rolling you might consider running more camber. This will make the tyres wear more on the inside but will also make it less likely for the car to flip over when you hit a wave in the carpet during cornering. Alternatively (possibly better), run a lot of spacers under the outside of the top links to angle them down. This raises the roll center AND increases the camber gain at the same time for a similar effect to running more static camber. This is in fact what most of the team ran at the Snowbirds.
