Is there any reason why you couldn't use a normal car (automobile) battery charger to provide a 12 volt output to power our NiMh chargers? |

the current that normal automobile power provides is not very stable compared to "real" power supplies. That causes that the charger may not work properly->charge is usually cut off very soon after starting if it even starts. You can help this problem with installing some (for example 20 000uF) big capacitor between + and - of mobile charger to get the current more stable. But nowadays chargers are very precise with the current they need so this may not work with new chargers but it worked few years back with not so advanced delta peak chargers. I stilll suggest you to get real power supply( like LRP, Mascot, Much More.....) to avoid any problems cause any home made modifications to mobile power supply may cause problems and charger can broke. Warranty is not always on your side in those cases... Somebody correct me if I am wrong. |
