Post subject: | Exhaust bumper guards melted |
Okay, here’s a thing. Previous owner of this RX8 had the catback possible installed. Literally 4.25” OD tips. There’s melted plastic around the exhaust tips. Yeah, that . During the installation process, in their infinite wisdom, they broke every retaining clip that holds the bumper guards (exhaust pipe outlets on the back) onto the body, and zip tied and epoxied it. Anyways, it looks like shit. So I’ve installed a new catback with with nice sound baffling in the 3.5” tips (2.5” system) . Great, sounds and looks nice. Except I noticed when I removed the bumper guards, they had this jankshit sheetmetal that’s lazily welded together to form a loop and held in with ONE bolt and nut that goes on the inside of the opening for the exhaust tip to go through. This certainly does not look like an OEM thing. And I haven’t seen any other RX8 with them. When I went to order new bumper guards, I saw they appear to be all plastic, and not have a shroud. Is this going to be okay for the 3.5” tips? Does anyone have any problems with melted plastic around their 3.5” exhaust tips? |
