Post subject: | Do speedometers show higher speed than real speed? |
I have noticed this during my driving lessons. My speedometer was showing 50km/h, but I was approaching a radar and it showed around 45km/h. I thought maybe the radar is not as accurate, but now I'm watching some footage on youtube with speedometer cam but also GPS speed, at all points, the GPS speed shows lower than the speedometers. Is that done on purpose so drivers don't speed, or is it just a poor calibration? If it's the latter, I suppose it might be done on purpose on the learner's bike - so we don't accidentally speed during our exams. |
