Chris Morris cracked eight sixes in an unbeaten 82 off 32 balls for Delhi Daredevils but it wasnt enough for them to win a fourth straight game in the IPL, losing to Gujarat Lions by one run in a thrilling contest in the Indian capital. It was a tale of two halves, in both innings, as Gujarat raced through to 110-0 from their first 10 overs after being asked to bat first, but lost 62-6 in the second 10.In contrast, Delhi were 51-3 at the midway point of their reply, before Morris helped the hosts launch 120 from the final 10, but it wasnt to be enough. The win returns Gujarat to the top of the IPL table having won their fifth game in six, while Delhi are third, having suffered their first defeat in four. The game got off to flying start as Gujarat openers Brendon McCullum (60 off 36 balls) and Dwayne Smith (53 off 30) both cracked quick-fire fifties.Smith struck four boundaries, albeit three streakily edged down to third man, as 18 runs were scored from Zaheer Khans opening over. The panel discuss the thrilling match between Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils. The Lions won by one run in an instant classic Smith more emphatically powered a couple of sixes over the ropes in the next few overs as Gujarat raced through to fifty in four overs, the fastest team to fifty in the tournament.McCullum cleared the boundary twice too, but only just with his first effort, Sanju Samson palming the ball over with his dropped catch at deep cover with McCullum on just two.The former New Zealand skipper would make Delhi pay with a 27-ball fifty, while Smith reached his own half century in one ball fewer, bringing up the milestone with his third six.Soon after though Smith was gone, out lbw to Imran Tahir (3-24), while Morris (2-35) impressed initially with the ball in hand, bowling McCullum and removing Suresh Raina for two in the same over, to further limit the Lions.Gujarat struggled to regain their free-flowing run-scoring of their openers for the rest of their innings, with Tahir striking twice more and JP Duminy once, though James Faulkner did contribute a handy unbeaten 22 from 13.Dhawal Kulkarni (3-19) took three wickets in his opening spell - his first over a wicket-maiden - accounting for Samson, the in-form Quinton de Kock, and Karun Nair as the Daredevils slumped to 16-3 in their first four overs.Duminy (48 off 43) rebuilt, finally receiving some support from South African team-mate Morris, who signalled his intent by cracking his third ball for six.Back-to-back maximums from Morris off Pravin Tambe soon followed, before the Delhi allrounder went one better with three in a row off Smith, the second seeing him through to a 17-ball fifty. With just 29 needed from the final three overs, Delhi were suddenly favourites, but Duminy perished to a Dwayne Bravo slower ball and Praveen Kumar bowled a terrific penultimate over costing just four runs.It left 14 runs for Delhi to get from the final over, the first ball of which Morris smacked for four thanks to a Faulkner misfield, and despite some further poor fielding from Gujarat, they held on for a nail-biting one-run win.Watch continued coverage of the IPL on Sky Sports, with the next live action seeing Mumbai Indians face Kolkata Knight Riders from 3pm on Sky Sports 2 on Thursday. .Y. -- Barry Bonds, Roger Clemens, Sammy Sosa and Mark McGwire will have less time to remain eligible for the Hall of Fame ballot under changes made Saturday. .Y. - Alex Smith and the Kansas City Chiefs didnt flinch in the face of adversity. http://www.germanysoccerpro.com/Matthia ... ny-Jersey/. The Raptors have been outscored 88-66 in the opening quarter over a three-game span to begin the month of February. Their most recent loss, 109-101 in Sacramento on Wednesday, was eerily similar to Saturdays defeat at the hands of the Trail Blazers. . The match, billed as a "next-gen" encounter between two of the sports rising stars, lasted two and a half hours. The loss kept Raonic, from Thornhill, Ont., from reaching a third fourth-round spot in Melbourne over the past four years. . - Josh Sterk scored twice to lead the Oshawa Generals to a 7-1 rout of the Ottawa 67s in Mondays Ontario Hockey League action.Salt Lake City, UT (SportsNetwork.com) - Enjoying their highest position in the national rankings since 1999, the ninth-ranked Utah Runnin Utes close out a five-game homestand versus Pac-12 Conference foe Colorado at the Huntsman Center on Wednesday. Utah, which finished the 1998-99 campaign ranked sixth in the country, has lost just two games in 2014-15, and both have come on the road against nationally-ranked opponents. First, the Utes was taken down by 16th-ranked San Diego State in the second game of the season, 53-49, and then almost a month later Utah was tripped up by No. 10 Kansas, 63-60. But since the setback to the Jayhawks, the Runnin Utes have rattled off five straight wins. The program kicked off 2015 with a resounding 79-55 win versus USC on Jan. 2 and then completely demoralized UCLA two days later, 71-39. Meanwhile, the Buffaloes have had difficulty sustaining any sort of consistency, good or bad. On Sunday, the team matched the Utes by crushing USC, 86-65, two days after dismissing UCLA in a 62-56 final at home in Boulder. However, those two wins came on the heels of two defeats, which followed back-to-back victories, which came after a pair of losses. Colorado leads the all-time series by a 25-17 margin, although in Salt Lake City it is Utah that owns a 12-8 edge. As Pac-12 opponents, the Buffs have claimed five of seven meetings, although both programs won on their home floor last season. Inside the Coors Events Center, the hosts were suiting up without Josh Scott (14.8 ppg, 7.7 rpg) due to back spasms for the second straight games, but it didnt matter because the Colorado offense proved to be tough to stop with 55.2 percent accuracy from the floor in the 21-point victory over USC. Askia Booker dropped in 18 points and handed out seven assists, followeed by Xavier Johnson and Dustin Thomas with 17 points apiece, while Wesley Gordon accounted for nine rebounds and six points.dddddddddddd. A 55.6 percent shooter from the field, Scott is listed as questionable for the meeting with Utah, which means Booker and his cohorts may again have to pick up the slack. Booker, who has knocked down a team-best 25 3-pointers, is tops on the team with both 15.8 ppg and 46 assists, followed by Johnson and his 13.8 ppg and 5.7 rpg. Gordon (7.6 ppg) has shown that he too can hit the boards in the absence of Scott, clearing 7.1 per contest, but he is not nearly the same threat in a scoring capacity. Prior to the meeting with the Bruins, the Utes had outscored nine opponents at home in Salt Lake City by an average of 84-57 and while the offense was not quite as strong for Utah, the team still came away with another lopsided victory. Delon Wright scored 11 points, cleared seven rebounds, handed out five assists and made four steals for the Runnin Utes, while Jordan Loveridge tacked on 10 points and Jakob Poeltl nine to go with a game-high 10 boards. At the defensive end, Utah held UCLA to just 28.8 percent shooting from the field and 1-of-11 behind the 3-point line, all while the Bruins converted only 8-of-15 at the free-throw line and were beaten on the glass, 42-28. Wright, a 57.6 percent shooter from the floor, not only paces Utah in scoring with 15.1 ppg, he is also tops in assists (79) and steals (32), not to mention one of the stronger rebounders with 4.9 rpg. Loveridge, who has appeared in just half the teams 14 outings, checks in with 12.0 ppg while hitting on 53.3 percent on the perimeter, followed by Poeltl with 9.8 ppg and 8.3 rpg as he plays a key role in providing the Utes with a rebounding advantage of 9.1 rpg.
