Typically the suspension arm is trimmed down. Have a look at the FAQ here: |

Tony... are their any plans to create new rear arms that are already properly trimmed/molded to work with 28mm foams using the outside hole. It just seems wrong to require dremel work on the rear arms to use the outside hole with foams. Plus... just trimming the nub off, as the manual suggests, does not quite create enough clearance. I'm having to dremel a few mm INTO the rear arm in addition to trimming off the nub. I'm worried about what that does to the entegrity of the rear arm. |

I haven't heard of any plans in that direction, but then I'm not at the factory. As to Dremeling into the arm a bit, if you need it to clear the rim of the tyres you use then that's ok. As long as it is no more than 1-2mm the arms will be strong enough. With the rims I ran in practice this weekend I needed to go into the arm about 1.5mm too. |

Yup... I picked Ralph Burch's brain a bit yesterday (kinda messy in there) and he said he usually dremels into the arm about 1-2mm. I'm running Parma foam right now and the rims will rub on the bottom ball end of the shock when I only dremel off the nub. I'll take another mm or two off the arms and see how it works out. I just really think Xray should come out with a rear arm that is already preped for foams. You should see all the foam tire slices people are taking off their tires to run foams at our track because they don't know how to prep the arm correctly for 28mm foams when using the outside hole on the arms. |
