Does anyone know why I'm getting a few mm of left to right play in the layshaft ?

I don't think this is normal, are there specific bearings that should be used for it :S

There should be 0.5mm play maximum. Check the instruction manual, make sure the layshaft is assembled correctly. Are the e-clips on it? The bearings should be 5x10x4. Make sure a 5x10x3 hasn't been used by mistake.
