I've been progressing as a driver steadily, driving very clean and consistent now, however I am still finding my car doesn't "come in" until the 2.5 minute mark (or so) of a race. For the first while I thought this was just my driving, but now I'm starting to see that it happens consistently. I don't think its tires as they should be warm by the 30 second mark or so. By "come in" I mean become consistent. For the first 2 minutes it is unpredictable and loose, then it just starts hooking up and is great to drive. Setup sheet is here: xform/index.php?act=view&ID=545&setup=t4_2014 Can anyone make any suggestions, observations or advice on how to get my car to come in a little earlier? I was running 3k rear diff fluid and someone suggested trying 2k. That seem to help lock down the rear end slightly, but didn't correct this issue. Any thoughts? Luke |

I would try more camber. It sounds like the car gets easier to drive in the run. That could be that you tires are going away. Rubber tire is all about a balance in the car. Maybe in the beginning of the run the car is more twitchy, then as it settles down the car gets easier to drive for you. I would try a little more camber all the way around. Also play with your droop. Add some take some out. Hope that helps. Thanks, Drew |

Camber will make the tire come in faster. You might not be getting enough of the contact patch in the beginning. Which makes it hard to drive and loose. As the sauce wears off the car gets easier to drive. Sounds like you have a good amount of steering in the first part of the race and then it levels out. I would just start with adding camber to the rear. Also try going down in spring rate in the front. I think your setup said 2.6, try 2.5. Also your shimming of the camber links. In the front try 1mm out on top of the castor block with 2mm on the inside. In the rear try 3.5mm on the hub and 2mm on the inside. Looking at your setup you have a lot of camber gain all the way around. How long are you saucing for? Thanks, Drew |

Oh - I also meant to ask about your thoughts on graphite arms versus composite - I'm starting to think the graphite arms are a bit too ridged for low/medium grip tracks? |

[quote="lpittman"]Oh - I also meant to ask about your thoughts on graphite arms versus composite - I'm starting to think the graphite arms are a bit too ridged for low/medium grip tracks?[/ I run hards on the front and graphite on the rear. In high bite I add the carbon plates to the rear. I feel that the graphite arms free the car up and help with rotation. Will run graphite on the front when I feel that the car has too much steering. They seem to calm the car down. I also feel in high bite they make more forward traction. I don't get that much of a chance to run on low bite, but I can see how the standard arms could be better. Medium to high for sure the graphite. Thanks, Drew |
