Rear wing cut out!!

I've noticed at the latest ETS round in Luxembourg that a lot of the stock racers have a cut out on the rear wing, is this to help with straight line speed and how much will it affect rear grip when cornering?

the track was a large fast flowing track,so rear grip didnt seem to be a problem due to the cornering speeds,so yes you are right it aids top speed

Thanks Alex, will it make it really loose at the rear end when cornering though?

Matt, Malc Hall tried it and said it took away too much rear grip for him, but I saw quite a few stock drivers doing it.

Thanks damo, I heard a lot of the stock drivers at the ets have the cut out wing and keep 3 degrees rear toe where we are using around 1 degree rear toe with the standard wing, probably very similar overall.
