Can anyone give me an idea about how the shock position is influencing steering and corner speed? Drive 17.5 blinky, mostly carpet. Seems, that I am the only one who is driving them upwards, but have the feeling, downwards the car is slowed down in corners!? Additionaly, what effects do shims under the shock (front/rear, up/down) really have? |

Hi jk1, Of course the shock position is influencing steering and corner speed. In front and also rear shock position upwards makes the spring and damping softer, so smother feeling and slower reaction at high speed corners. On the other side downward position makes the spring and damping harder so makes the car more direct at coner out and also at corner entry. Basically more shims at the shocks means less traction even in front and rear. |

Law of leverage so yes sounds backwards, stand shocks up to make slightly stiffer but slow weight transfer and the opposite lay them down for more weight transfer. Big but! Be careful I found our so called low grip carpet was actually medium grip, I went soft and rolled too much but couldn't see it, asked on here and the regulars all said stand em up!! so now I run rear shocks stood up or nearly as I like the feel. Adjusting the steering with the TX or springs/bars |
