Post subject: | T4'14:When to use carbon inserts in a-arms + screw size Q... |
Hi all I find the advice on the use of the a-arms confusing... When do you guys really recommend to (not) use the carbon plates, and why? I haven't been able to try mine in constant enough conditions to really make up my mind... ... but I've been clumsy enough to strip one of the tiny screw heads still - what is the size to reorder? Thank you Paul |

if you have the std arms then you would fit them from med grip to high, they basically turn a std arm into a graphite arm,as for screw size i cant help there,if you managed to strip one is the tip of your 1.5 driver still in good condition? if its slightly rounded this will cause a problem, you can file 1mm from the tip to make it a hex again,if your tool is ok then you overtightened it,put some grease on the threads before you screw them in as i makes it easier |

Look in your manual and you will see the size required They are ............M2.5 x 6 lots of different makes available As for use I have tried on med grip carpet with std kit arms and they smoothed the car through the corners |

Thank you, useful, i didnt even check the main manual as they were option parts... So why is it that stiffening the arms makes for a smoother car? What is happening physically? Thx! Paul |

its a hard one to explain other than it makes the car easier to drive,it feels a bit more planted, sharper, more direct, so you have the confidence to attack the track a bit harder which brings down the lap times |

from the t4 14 advert The all-new arms feature the innovative SFA™ (Suspension Flex Adjustment). Whether you are racing in low or high-traction track conditions, you can easily adjust the flex of the arms as appropriate by quickly adding optional graphite stiffeners which will change the stiffness of the suspension. The new arms include 4 holes where the graphite stiffeners are mounted and the areas around the holes are strengthened for maximum durability. The front arm is 2mm longer to better fit the new suspension mounts. All-new innovative and unique SFA™ graphite stiffeners allow for super-quick suspension flex adjustment to easily adjust the traction of the car in various track conditions. Whether you drive in low- or high-traction conditions, with the smart graphite stiffeners you can very quickly adjust your car to suit it to current conditions. At the beginning of a race event when traction is low, the arms are used without the SFA™ graphite stiffeners. When the traction increases, the suspension can easily be made stiffer by mounting the SFA™ graphite stiffeners for more stability and easier driving characteristics. The graphite stiffeners give the car maximum stability in chicanes and allow for easier and smoother steering. Made from 1 |

We have just finished the EWS series and for the last 2 rounds I used the option plates to make the car as stiff as possible. EWS was low to med grip carpet and it definitely made the car easier to drive and I felt I could push harder than the previous rounds. |
