When cutting out a touring shell I seem ok cutting the shell it's self it when I come to position it and cut out the wheels.

Should the front of the she'll be up against the bumper or position to suit the wheel position.

When cutting out the wheels what size should they be if the wheel is 63mm.

I can fit a 5-8mm thick foam piece between the bumper and body (for Protoform shells - Speed 6, LTC-R and GX) it all depends on how you want to mount the shell. We experiment at lot with the positioning of the body as a body mounted more towards the front will have significantly more steering and reaction especially in high speed, however, at the expense of some stability. There should be no "play" at the front so you should fill up the empty space with foam pieces.

Depending on the mounting position, wheel wells tend to be a bit in front of the front wheels - that's how we like to run it for a more aggressive feel. You should cut out the wheel wells so that there is plenty of room for the body to "flex" inwards without the body getting tucked into the wheels.

I use a circle cutter for the wheels with a diameter of 70mm and I don't have problems with the body catching behind the wheel when it flexes.
Just cutout the body first and place it onto the car with the front wheels straight and all wheels fitted. Then mark the axles on the body (make sure the car has the correct ride height) and use that point for your circle cutter.

another tip for alignment of bodyposts is to space the wheels out so they touch each side of the shell,that way you can be certain that when you cut the post hole the car will be centered
