Hi Everyone,
Just curious about a few things with modified motor differences, having always ran stock I am a little clueless about them. So the main thing I'm wondering is the difference between stock and modified motors. I'm also curious about the difference in speed/timing that one turn has. ( difference between 6.5 and 5.5 ).

With a possibility of running this next year, club rounds/possible BRCA national I am interested to learn about this so I don't look like an idiot.

Any help would be happily received.

This year was my first year of Open modified. After speaking to a few people I got a 4.5

The only other wind I tried was a 5.5 at West London, but after running the 4.5 it just felt sluggish and gave slower lap times.

Just get a 4.5, and remember that unlike Stock, you can turn it down

All year I only changed the motor timing by 10deg (depending on track size) and small changes in gearing, around 8.0fdr will cover most things.

Thanks.

How would I turn a mod motor down?

You can just reduce the end bell timing to make it feel a bit 'softer'

You could also turn down some of the settings on your ESC to reduce it's punch and make it easier to drive (and not make the ESC so hot)
