Post subject: | T1FK '05 - Where's the sway bars |
I am a new owner of an FK '05. Let me say first that I love this car but..... After assembling the kit I made a few observations: 1. The fit and finish were excellent - Two Thumbs Up! The externally adjustable shocks ROCK! 2. Where are the sway/anti-roll bars? 3. Where are the aluminum shock bodies? This "Premium Quality Touring Car" has a "Premium Price" so I would have expected the afformentioned items above (2 and 3) to have been included in the kit. Can someone please explain to me why I would have to upgrade a car like this to get items that are normally included in a equivalent kits from other manufactureres? Other than that, LET'S RACE!!!!! |

It depends highly on what type of track and tyres you race on whether sway bars are needed. Generally with rubber tyre racing sway bars are only used if grip is exceptionally high and then usually only indoors on carpet. With foam tyres sway bars are more common to use but even here they are not allways used. This is why sway bars are available as an option to those that want/need it. The reason the shocks don't have aluminum shock housings is that in general the team prefers the composite ones. They are lighter, smoother and generally easier to fine tune in terms of rebound and equality all round. I suggest you have a look at all the team's setups over the course of the past 3-4 years. You'll be hard pressed to find even one that used the aluminum shock housings. Personally I don't consider it an upgrade to go to the aluminum housings... |
