Hi Im about to open my gear didf to put some new oil in Will i need to replace the gasket? Its been there for 6 months? Also do i need to have an o ring in there? |

I've given up on the O-rings, if they don't go in quite right they cause a leak. SO I don't bother with the o-rings at all, just the gasket, and I haven't replaced one yet. |

Sorry to butt in but questions to all- How often do you check diff oils? If you don't run o'rings should it be more frequent? |

LOL must confess I never check mine per se. I just check the movement to ensure it is still as smooth as day 1 |

If you want to know if it's leaked. When you first build it, weigh the entire diff when 'ready to run' From then on you can just weigh the diff to see if any oil has leaked out. No, I can't remember what an assembled diff weighs ![]() |
