Post subject:  Tyres overheating?

Running T3 12 on kit setup with 2.8 front springs 1.4 rear roll bar, rear shocks stood up 2k diff oil, Sorex 28s

Raced at a new small club last week and car was a real handful, pushed for first few laps then oversteer after that.

Tried sorex 24s which were awful after 2 laps but thats when realised how warm all tyres were. Went back to 28s and reduced ESC settings to smooth the power output which helped but still had to drive aggressivly till and carefully when the tyres warmed up.

What would you all do to combat this

use 32's it was probably too hot for 28's

1 of the guys tried them but think he couldn't quite get heat in so gave up and switched back.
Am back there next week so think I'll try maybe harder springs and more toe but not sure this will have the desired

Have a rummage through my Newbury setups (30*16m on Sorex 28JB's), there are quite a few for my old T3'12;

If you are running 17.5 blinkey then you will may well getaway with 28s but if your tyres are overheating then 32s will be better. Dont stiffen the springs this will make the tyres work more and cause them to overheat more. I am running 1.2 roll bar at the rear on my T3 012 (13.5 boosted) which again will work the the tyres less

Post subject:  Re: Tyres overheating?

Sorry I should of said, it's carpet but not Prima just a felt but different to anything I've raced on, managed to source a couple of sets of lightly used 32s but not sure of the inserts.

Would a diff up front be any advantage here as fronts are taking a few laps to warm up?

Post subject:  Re: Tyres overheating?

i havent raced on carpet for over 10 yrs so im no good on that front but going softer on the springs wont work the tyres so hard
skiddins is the man with all the answers on carpet set ups

Post subject:  Re: Tyres overheating?

You should try leaning your rear shocks back in for less overheating. More flex usually equals less overheating. Try to remove 4 screws from the topdeck (the front 2 of the layshaft bulkhead) and don't tighten the nut in the motor mount from the bottom of the chassis.
