if i narrow the front track width what/when would i benefit from it? currently i run 2mm ff and 1.5 fr i just changed it to 1.5 ff and .5 fr?i havent got a .75 shim,so would i be better off with 1mm ff? i like the arm sweep

We used to run our 009 with 1.15 shims on FF and FR. It improved steering response and importantly for us rotation around the corners (on a tight twisty track).

But it can make the rear end a bit of a handful. When it worked it was great but when it didn’t, rapid oversteer could be induced; it was a fast but riskier setup. If you have good grip and the rear end is settled then I think it is worth exploring. With the T3 012 we have gone back to 1.5 shims and then subsequently 2.0 FF and 1.5 FR. That was a deliberate change to get a more consistently settled setup.

I have not tried it with toe-out dialled in to the suspension arm. Having said that I think your suggested change is too aggressive. Either loose the toe-out and go to 1.15s all-round, or try 1.5 and 1.0 (or 1.15).

The car will feel more responsive. High speed steering is slightly increased and low speed steering is decreased.

My regular set-up is 2.0 FF and 1.5 FR. However, at the last two ETS rounds I have used 1.5 FF and 0.75 FR with great success.

PS I forgot. Concurrently with running the 1.15 shims we also had the wheelbase reduced 1mm from kit. Maybe it was the combination of the two that made the rear nervous on occassion; perhaps with just the axle shortened you might find it more stable
