Post subject:  Anti-roll bar help

Hi I'm wondering if someone could help.

I have a T4 which I built from new. The issue I have is with the links between the suspension arms and the anti-roll bars. I built the links as per the manual but when I lift one side the other doesn't move. I have the same problem front and back. The only way I can get them to lift at closely identical points is by extending the links on one side.
I've checked the roll bar, swapped it with another one and still the same.

Is there something I've done wrong or is this normal?

Many thanks

I guess you haven't got the dampers on the car. Right?
Because the anti roll bar is not strong enough to lift the other side if the damper is connected.

Have you checked
Free movement of wishbones with no shocks or roll bars attached?
Roll bars are flat when lay on flat surface?
Free movement screws are adjusted to just take out slop and not give resistance?

Yep shocks are off, everything moving freely and the roll bar is as flat as a pancake.

Take everything off the wishbones, so there are no driveshafts, upper links or hub carriers attached.

Now double check that the wishbones are definitely as loose as you think.

I always have to turn one holder about one or two turns. I don't worry too much since specially the rear anti roll bar is pretty weak and will do like that very easy. On the tweak board the car is perfect with the collars on the shocks exactly the same amount acrewed down.
But do as skiddins say and remove everything or else you will not be able to see if the arm binds. If it do. Make sure it moves freely on the pivot pin, if that is ok then put the arm back and loosen the suspension holder screw on that side and hold it back when tightening. Usually works.

All sorted, cheers guys.

It was one of the composite shims binding up the suspension pin, only a very small amount but enough I guess to cause the issue. Checked the rear and that all seems perfect.
