Hi What's the difference between the down stop setup and droop setup and with the droop setup what's the best way to do it. |

Droop is the upward and downward travel limit of the suspension. In some contexts it can be referred to as uptravel, or downtravel. When droop is increased, the downstop value measured on the downstop gauge, is of a lower number. How to set droop over ride height: Many team drivers especially in the USA, tend to measure their droop, not with the normal droop gauge tool, but in relation to their ride height. This is done with a ride height gauge. First, you should start off by measuring your ride height with the car ready to run. Then slide the ride height gauge underneath the center point of the chassis until both wheels lift off the ground. Use this value, minus your ready to run ride height, and you will have your droop over ride height value. For example when your ride height is set to 5.5mm, and your tires lift off the ground at 8.5mm on the ride height gauge: 8.5 – 5.5 means 3mm of droop. This method is particularly useful with foam tires, which in the past were very popular for US racing classes. Why? Because foam tires wear and when they decrease in diameter this will affect the ride height of the car. So the droop settings should then be adjusted as the tires wear. The diameter of rubber tires is fairly static. However, there are variations between different brands of tires, which should be taken into note. |
