I am wanting to get hold of some spur gears. Im looking for 69-72T/48P spurs that fit the xray T3-T4 but seems that no one sells them. I did find a RW Racing 72T on ebay from the UK tho but honestly Im in Australia and it just takes way to long for them to arrive through the post from the U.K. Is there a another certain brand of spur gear besides RW and Xray that makes spur gear that fits an xray? Xray should take note that not all people who buy their cars race Modified and use larger spurs or want to use 64P. Shouldnt Xray either produce "stock" racing spurs or even better change the layshaft so that we can buy a more common brand spur that fits it! Really is frustrating! |

Why don't you email RW and see if they have a distributor that's closer for you. If you explain the problems and club together with a few other people they might even do a deal on pricing. |

Thanks Skiddins. I have done that before and looks like I'll have to do it again. Still doesnt answer the question as to why Xray don't make smaller spur gear. |

If the demand for such spur gears is quite zerro than XRAY will not make them, if are more customers which use such spur gears than XRAY have no problem to make them. |

There is obviously a bigger demand for those smaller type of spur gear than what you or Xray think Bruno. Otherwise why would aftermarket manufacturers like RW Racing and Zeppin Racing specialise in making a product that you say or think there is "zero" demand for. Good for them for looking after a specific clientele because obviously Xray won't help the situation. |

Please note that XRAY spur gears are moulded from a specially designed and precisely produced moulds and not machined. Therefore to be able to design a mould for a new spur gear requires forecast that some certain quantity of the spur gears will be sold to cover the expenses of the mould. Of course it is possible in theory to design and produce a mould and produce only 1 pcs from it but you do not want to imagine what will be then price. So at the end to produce the spur gears to be available in an affordable competitive price it requires certain quantity. Anytime there is a demand for a new product we make a quick forecast with our distributors on their estimated interest for such a product. In this case we will of course do the same. The satisfication of the customer is our priority as usually. |

To say that if you made a spur mold and only sold "one" is a bit patronizing but I do understand what your all saying. May I then ask, what spur pinion combo do you suggest for a "Blinky" mode 17.5T or 21.5T motor for a medium sized outdoor ashphalt track? Surely I'm not the only "one" racer that likes to use a 72T/35-7T spur pinion combo? |

I too have had issues finding the spur gear I needed and had to take one from another manufacturer and modify it to fit. It was a total PITA to do. It took a while for me to true it up enough to spin true. |

Yes I know where your coming from. There's ALOT of racers in Australia that use and want smaller spur gear for their xrays. Did you notice no one answered when I ask what sort of spur/pinion combo to use with a 17.5T or 21.5T? Ironic isn't it. More people should speak up about this. I |

Hi, I'm racing 17,5 and blinky modus with my T4 in Germany.We have to run a gearratio of 4,5:1.I have a 76T Robotronic spurgear that needed only very little modification built in the car.I also have a 76T spurgear from Panaracer that fits perfectly without mods.If you want to run 64dp get a 100T from X-Ray. I'm running mine in 17.5 spec touring in blinky mode and wanted a FDR of around 3.7:1. The huge spurs available don't leave enough room for a pinion to make that ratio happen... I'd have the same dilemma if running USGT or USVTA. The guys running MOD may not need that low of a ratio. |

When we run 17.5 Blinkey,on an 009 with IR set to1.9, we use a 70 spur to get the 3.4 ratio which is from RW Racing - as XRAY do not have them. I know of plenty of other drivers who race 17.5 blinkey with XRAYs who will be running a similar ratio. |
