Post subject:  Motor guard-spur saver?

Hi,

I have a problem with my t4, and that is that spur strips regularly. I have narrowed the problem down to that as we have a tight track with wood sides when we hit the i think that the motor is actually hitting these boards and moving towards the spir stripping them. Do you thing that a motor guard would stop this?

It might work.

Are you sure this is where the problem is and not the motor moving forwards or backwards.

Make sure you tightened up the screws and nut for the motor mount in the right order.

Yeah i stripped a few spurs and have had to check this before. My motor strips if you tighten the screw too much, its a hard thing to do.

Use M3 socket head screws for the motor AND motor bulkhead (screws below the bearing that hold the motor mount). Tighten screws in the same order the manual says. These socket head screws permit you to tighten them better than the button head screws.

Motor guard might help, but tightening the motor correctly may "fix" it also.
