Are there differences in setting the same toe out using shims and without shims? In on both methods model has the same reaction and speed? |

Are you asking about inboard toe vs outboard toe? Inboard adjusted with extra shims at the bulkhead and outboard toe adjusted via the turnbuckle link? |

"Try to use 0.5mm of inboard toe-out in front (2mm track width shim at the front mountings of the front suspension) this will give more turn-in." (Alex Hagberg) In response to an understeer question I posted, Which I found to give more turn in than the same 1deg outboard |

I read this and other similar. From these statements comes my question. I would like to know the strengths and weaknesses using shims to get front toe out (if there are differences between toe out with shims and toe out using turnbuckle link). Sorry for my english. I hope that now everyone knows clearly what I want to known. |

I don't know exactly, but when using shims to create toe out you are also shortening the wheelbase slightly. The angle of the wishbones should also allow them to bind less. I tend to run 0.5 or 1deg of toe out on the links and at the moment I also have 0.5mm difference in the shims. Skiddins |
