Hi all,

Raced my t4 but the motor kept moving and stripping the spur gear. 2 X in 1 night. Thought i had badly aligned the pinion and spur the first time so got a experienced club racer to do it wnd it happened again! Help!

Make sure all of the screws into the motor/layshaft mounts are tight; these are left loose during the first stage of the build and tightened later, some people forget the second step.

Also make sure you're using decent motor screws and that these are tightened properly. Clean the end of the motor and the back of the motor mount (with motor/brake cleaner) to make sure there's no grease/oil on these.

And run the screws that go through the topdeck into the layshaft mounts. Some people remove these to gain flex, but this can cause the layshaft to move upwards under load.

I was talking to a friend of mine at the weekend and he had the same problem. He found that the rotor shaft on his motor was bent.

Use socket head screws for the motor and motor bulkhead. Also, tighten the screws in the order the manual says.
