Post subject: | T3 2011 - Shocks question |
Hi everyone, I recently started racing with a T3 2011. I noticed that if I hold the two shocks and I try to press the pistons the one against the other, the speed that the pistons are pressed is completely different. All shocks have the same oil inside, the same number of holes and 50% rebound. Do you know what is causing that? Do they need rebuilding? Thanks. |

Soundsl like they need a rebuild. There could be some crud in the O-ring, or the o-rings and seals might be damaged etc. I would rebuild and replace all the seals etc. Skiddins |

Thanks Skiddins, I changed all O-rings and that fixed the problem. But now I have a new question. Last week at the BRCA winter nationals, I noticed that the cars of the fast drivers are dealing much better when going over the kerbs than my T3. Sometimes kerbs unsettle the balance of my T3 so much, that is not worth it going too close to them. I have a standard set up, with standard springs (3.0 and 2.6) and standard antiroll bars (1.2 and 1.4) with 400 oil and 50% rebound. My ride height was 5.5mm front and rear. Any suggestions? Do you think having less rebound would make the car smoother going over the kerbs? |

I was running 450 oil but with 2.7 & 2.5 springs (T4) You might find that your front springs were too stiff which could cause the car to react violently any big bumps (like the edge of a curb). Normally indoors, I ran 2.8 & 2.6 springs, but I also know a few who used to run 2.6 front and rear. Skiddins |

Don't you think that if I go 2,8 at the front instead of 3.0 it may become tail happy (oversteer)? |

Should be OK, you could always use the H1 & H2 camber link blocks instead of L1 & L2 at the front and possibly add rear toe if it does make the rear loose. Are you using a lot of steering lock through the corners? |
