I compared the new FK05 shocks to the FK04 and realized that the rubber membrane has a different shape. I feel it is a bit softer also.
Is the membrane modified, or I have some problems with my eyes.
I did not build them yet thinking those are the same as the old ones, can I expect some improvement? (like more time between rebuilds).

I noticed they seemed thicker to me, the rubber may have been softer, but i am fairly certain they are thicker ?

I haven't "had" to rebuild any of my shocks ? am i doing something different here ?

Only for oil changes thickness and the need for rebound...

Just exactly how do the foam inserts for the shocks affect the handling of the car?

And

When do you usually use them?

The foam inserts make the rebound more consistent and smooth. Also the foam inserts will generally enable more rebound to be used. More rebound can help to increase grip on smooth low traction tracks. On bumpy tracks more rebound will not work as well as the car will start jumping around over the bumps. Similarly with high grip more rebound will make traction rolls more likely.
