Hi, I am about to try using a gear diff(XRAY) for the first time in earnest. Wondering what you guys have tried/decided on in terms of oil weight? The asphalt track is mixed with medium grip. The straight is 45 metres followed by a banked 180 degree curve of 25 metres. A crucial part of the track in terms of overall time is the chicane leading onto the straight. Setup is basically kit with stiffer springs and shock oil, 2 degrees camber and 6.25/6.5 ride height (droop set to maintain kit settings uplift). Track can be found on google earth at 51deg 13' 41.33"N 0deg 45' 29.49"W (I did try attaching the google earth .kmz file but that seems not to be allowed). |

I wonder where you mean ![]() I went up from 700-1000 cSt in the gear diff to 3000, which seems to offer good turn in and stability. Here is one of my recent setup's (not quite current); For anyone else giving advice, this is the track; Skiddins |

LOL thought you might Skiddens. I think the main differences in our setups are that I have stiffer shocks, especially at the front(cannot comment on springs as I am not familair with the HPIs - I am running 3.0/2.8 ) and the long driveshafts. What really does intrigue me is your ride height; I have been told by several to run 6/6.5 to prevent grounding on the banking - I run 6.25/6.5 but have not played around with that setting yet. The car seems to be very stable on the banking although does occassionally twitch on entry - which may be due to me having drag brakes set on the Tekin ESC. How did you come to move from 700 to 3000 oil weight? When the diff first arrived the general view seemed to be 700 or 1000. The reason I raised the post was that I am sure following some experience people may be on something different and that seems to apply to you. |
