Post subject: | C-Hub composite or Alu |
As a beginner I found out the hard way that Alu C-hubs (the caster blocks to be specific) are vunerable to impact. And that they are expensive I've been able to change the caster angle of 2 sets within 5 testdays with +/- 1 degree. Yes yes yes I know .... drive more carefull. But I'm 'speed'-learner, seeking allways the bounderies. I'm considering to change over to composite ones. Mainly to cut cost. My two questions are: 1) Can I use composite caster blocks and alu steering blocks or do I have to go to composite steering blocks too? 2) Whats is the difference in handling etc. between composite and alu C-hubs? BTW: The alu set was on the (2nd hand) car when I bought it.. Thanks in advance for any help. |

Hi, Joep 1) Yes you can use composite casterblock with alu steeringblock and vise versa. 2) With alu casterblock the suspenssion is stiffer and with composite casterblock it is more flexible. With composite block (more flex) car turns better and it´s little harder to drive. With alu blocks the car is easier ti drive. And for sure composite blocks are weaker then alu ones. |

Joep, the composite caster blocks will (or are, maybe Mario can confim) be available in a "hard" version in addition to the version that comes in the kit (now referred to as medium). While the hard one will not be as stiff as the alu version it may just be what you need. |
