is it worth putting gear diff in the front of my xray t3 2012 ? i race on indoor carpet if so what are the gains over the standard front pulley and what oil would i have to use / thanks for any replys

Gear diff has been a popular tuning option lately. You can use very hard oil, if you can find some 1,000,000 cst - 500,000 cst this will be your best option, or you can use the cleaning putty (hard gum material) instead. The diff action will be very little but this works very well. You will have a little more mid corner steering, and for some conditions it will be easier to drive than the spool in the front.

I am about to try a diff in the front. I have always run a ball diff in the front from the days of the 008 US edition. I've recently been running a spool in my '11. Now going to Gear Diffs F&R. Based on oil viscosities, I guess a 500,000, 1,000,000 or putty would be almost locked like a front spool. Is this correct, or is there still quite a bit of diff action with these heavy oils? I have 100,000 in my kitbox. Is that evn worth tryingor shoudl I getone of the thicker ones?

If you are going to use oil in your front diff, don't even try anything softer than 500K since it will be too soft for most conditions. I have used 1,000,000 at some asphalt tracks but mostly the cleaning gum is the best alternative to spool. You should be able to turn it with your hands but the diff action is minimal.
