Post subject:  ARM SWEEP!

Hey,

I recently noticed that Alexander Hagberg has recently been using arm sweep in his setups. I tried using arm sweep the other day with the front wishbones. I used a 2mm spacer on the front suspension mount and found that it slightly reduced initial steering but gained more middle to exit.

By adding sweep it affects the angle of the steering turnbuckles which control the cars ackerman. Even using no shims the turnbuckles angle forwards rather than straight or backwards like they're supposed to. What affect will this have on the cars steering, will it make it super aggressive?

It should give more turn-in, most likely caused by the increase in ackerman angle. It is most noticeable in slow corners following a fast one where there is a lot of weight transfer to the front tires.

Hi Alex

The arm sweep obviously pushes the steering turnbuckles the wrong way, even with no shims they are angled slightly forward. Does this mean the steering will be more aggressive on turn in than if the links were straighter?
