Hello.

I have heard that in asphat the best shock spring for use are the HPI - SILVER (front and rear).
And on carpet the best shock spring for use are YOKOMO - PINK (front) - YOKOMO - BLUE (rear).

What do you think?
Regards.

Dear reuben

In the uk where it is pretty low grip outdoors, even when it is hot, when the cars ran 6 and 5 cells it was HPI Pink front with HPI silver rears.

With the new lower weight limit you can go to a softer rated spring - therefore HPI Silver front with Blue rear.

If you are indoors you can return to HPI pink front and Silver rears due to the higher traction on carpet.

I carried out a golden ratio calculation of the respective springs and I came to using 40wt schumacher oil with HPI Silver front with 35wt schumacher oil and blue rears.

Whilst I am no amazing driver (I make club level a finals normally) I have asked people using xrays and other cars to try this out, and it just seems to work.

The beauty of the HPI springs are that they don't collapse like xray springs tend to do outdoors on long sweeping corners. That's my humble opinion.

Thank you very much Lohan.

HPI spring: silver, pink and blue.

The Yokomo spring I think were used for drivers with xray on lrp tcm, you can see the photos in xray website.

Regards.

Post subject:  How I do the golden ratio

Try this as a means of getting the perfect spring and oil weight:

take the car weight: 1350
divide by golden ration: 1.61
divide by golden ratio again: 1.61
divide by golden ratio again: 323 (use that as your sspring weight)

take 323 (accurate golden ratio number is different) - find the ssprings in that range from the Petit RC spring chart PDF - these happen to be: HPI Pro 4 Pink,
Now try oil weight that is a 1.61 multiple of that spring.

You can also try multiplying any spring by the same ratio.

You may think this to a little bit 'age of aquarius' but in actual fact it goes back to Gallileo, and complies with nearly allsuccessful engineering principles, so it is very sound.

At the least give it a try and let me know how you get on.

Take care
